So Mahayuti alliance in Maharashtra is now saying they will win all 17 seats in the upcoming Legislative Council elections . That is some next-level confidence,I must say.
This whole announcement came during a joint press conference on June 3 , where all the big leaders were present. You had state BJP chief Ravindra Chavan and NCP president Sunil Tatkare basically saying they are completely united for this fight.
And they are also dealing with some internal issues it seems . They have openly asked any rebel candidates who filed independent nominations to please withdraw by the deadline . They are promising to think about their future roles in the party later on. Classic political move tbh.
Sunil Tatkare also spent lot of time praising the national leadership,especially Prime Minister Narendra Modi . He said Modi ji has improved India's global standing and brought rapid development. The logic is that a strong NDA is needed to keep this momentum going at both state and national level.
And honestly,this is where they are trying to project a very strong,unbreakable image .
But the main focus is clearly on unity for now .

Tatkare also made one interesting point about the voting system . He said their focus is on getting all the first-preference votes,arguing that no opposition group is strong enough to even get second-preference votes. That's big claim ah.
With the final date for withdrawing nominations set for June 4,the leaders seem very sure that Mahayuti candidates will win easily.
He even said the opposition has struggled so badly that they had to do a desperate search just to find individuals to field as candidates . He ended by saying that under Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis,Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde,and Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Ajit Pawar,the alliance will get unprecedented success.
But making such big claim of winning 100% of the seats before election even happens… it feels like a huge gamble. What if even one or two seats go the other way…
