Key Takeaways

  • No eligible beneficiaries will be excluded from the scheme
  • Funds disbursed to ineligible won't be recovered
  • KYC window will reopen for valid beneficiaries

So this whole Ladki Bahin Yojana news is really something else ah . Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis is now saying no eligible woman will be left out,but the numbers coming out from this KYC verification are just mind-boggling.

And after Cabinet meeting,he basically confirmed that KYC process flagged around 80 lakh women for being ineligible or not complying . That is not small number. The whole point was to make sure money reaches right people.

Apparently when the scheme started, they let applicants self-certify to make things faster . But now it seems that has created huge mess. The government cross-checked all this data with Income Tax Department and other employee records .

And findings are honestly, quite shocking .

They found over 500,000 women were actually government employees . Nearly 10 lakh women had income over ₹2.5 lakh limit. And get this,14,000 men somehow managed to get funds meant for women. How does that even happen .

And tbh, that part about the men getting money is the most unbelievable thing in this whole story.

So now the government has plan:

  • Immediate halt on disbursements — Funds to ineligible beneficiaries will be stopped.
  • Protection of already disbursed funds — No recovery from those previously paid.
  • Reopening of KYC process — Eligible women can still register to receive benefits.

But CM Fadnavis did reassure everyone that the 1.70 crore women who have completed their KYC are safe . He also said they are open to reopening registration window for women who think they are eligible but got left out.

He explained that if they had done strict verification from day one,the whole benefit rollout would have been delayed by a lot . I guess that makes some sense, but look at situation now .

At same time,he promised government is fully accountable for public funds and there will be proper audit . But you just have to wonder, with so many wrong payments already made, how will they manage this cleanup…
