Just saw the news about that terrible fire at Lemon Green Restaurant in Malviya Nagar,Delhi and honestly,it's just heartbreaking. So many lives lost in such a horrible way .
The incident happened on morning of June 3 . final count is just shocking,21 people have died, and out of them,17 were foreign nationals. This is not a small thing ah.
And the victims were from so many different countries too… Liberia,Nigeria,Mozambique, and Bangladesh . It just makes you think how many families across the world are getting this terrible news rn .
According to Jitender Kumar, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate of South Delhi, the rescue operations finally finished at 12:12 PM . They managed to save 47 people which is good, but 21 people still lost their lives and 26 others are in hospital. Even some Delhi Police personnel who rushed in to help were injured,as per AIIMS report .
And of course, the political reactions are coming in now . Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his sorrow and announced ₹2 lakh for the families of the deceased. Amit Shah and Rahul Gandhi also shared condolences, with Rahul Gandhi calling it "extremely heartbreaking" and asking his party workers to help .
But this is where it all becomes very frustrating. Again and again we are seeing these incidents in Delhi.
Some key points from this tragedy:
- A massive fire at multi-storied restaurant claimed 21 lives.
- Victims included 17 foreign nationals from multiple countries.
- 47 people were rescued, while 26 are getting medical treatment.
Honestly, every time something like this happens, there is a lot of talk about fire safety regulations and accountability . But then things go back to normal and we wait for the next tragedy. It feels like a cycle.
This incident has again raised serious alarms about safety standards in public places . How can a restaurant in place like Malviya Nagar have such catastrophic fire? Were there any checks? Were the rules followed?
The government is now under pressure to make sure this doesn't happen again, but you have to wonder… will anything really change this time,or is it just more promises…
