Just saw some very good news coming out for World Clubfoot Day . Adani Foundation and Anushkaa Foundation have announced a partnership to help treat over 10,000 children with clubfoot in India. This is not small thing ah.
This whole initiative is planned for three years across five states, and they are working with the National Health Mission (NHM) too . official launch happened on June 3,2026,at the Manyavar Kanshiram Samyukth Chikitsalay and Trauma Centre in Kanpur,Uttar Pradesh. UP is one of the states with a huge number of cases,so it makes sense to start there.
For those who don't know, clubfoot is a birth defect where a baby's foot is turned inward . It happens to about one in every 800 newborns. good news is that it's treatable, but so many kids in poor communities just don't get care they need.
And honestly, this is where things get uncomfortable. A condition that can be fixed with Ponseti method, which is globally recognized, ends up becoming a lifelong disability for many just because of lack of access.
Dr . Priti Adani,Chairperson of the Adani Foundation, said something that really sums it all up . She stated,"Every child deserves the opportunity to move, learn, play, and participate fully in life."
And that is the whole point only, isn't it? Giving kids chance.
The plan seems quite solid on paper:
- 67 clubfoot clinics will be set up across 61 districts to provide treatment .
- 51 professionals are going to get specialized training in clubfoot care.
- Over 30,000 frontline health workers will be trained for early detection .
Deepak Premnarayen, who is Founder of Anushkaa Foundation, also made a very important point. He said,"Together,we can ensure that a treatable condition does not become lifelong barrier to mobility and opportunity."
It's all about catching it early and making sure the system is there to support these children and their families for long time . This isn't just about one-time treatment but also about long-term support and rehabilitation.
So many initiatives are announced but this one feels different because it's targeting a specific, treatable problem at a huge scale . Hopefully, the collaboration with NHM means it will actually strengthen the public healthcare system instead of just being a private project.
It's a massive step for sure, but implementation is always the real challenge… makes you wonder if this model can be scaled up across entire country if it works well in these five states…
