Traffic changes in Bhiwandi during Muharram processions are not small thing ah,because one missed update can literally trap people in long congestion for hours . And this time,Thane Traffic Police have already put out detailed advisory before crowds start building.
Restrictions will come into effect from June 26, 2026 ,at 1:00 PM and will stay till processions are over . Since Muharram processions are expected to bring large crowds, police are clearly trying to avoid last-minute chaos on roads .
Pankaj Shirsat ,Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic),has outlined these measures in official notification . Main focus is on controlling vehicle entry into Bhiwandi and keeping procession routes clear .
And honestly, commuters using these roads should check plan properly before leaving . Ranjnoli Naka will see vehicles diverted towards Mumbai-Nashik Bypass Highway, while heavy vehicles will not be allowed to enter from Ambadi Naka and Parole Phata .
Police have also asked people to use alternate routes like National Highway 8 or Vasai Road to avoid getting stuck . Simple advice, but during such crowd movement, this can save lot of time only .
Key points from advisory:
- Entry restrictions in place — All vehicle types will be banned from key points.
- No Parking zones established — Specific areas along procession routes will be designated as 'No Parking.'
- Emergency services exempted — Police, ambulances, and fire brigades will have unrestricted access.
Apart from entry restrictions, strict 'No Parking' zones will be enforced on main procession stretch, especially from Shantinagar to Kotargate Jakat Naka . This part matters because even one wrongly parked vehicle can block movement badly when crowd is passing .
Authorities are asking commuters to plan journeys ahead and keep checking traffic updates as date comes closer . Tbh,this is one of those situations where people may feel advisory is annoying, but ignoring it can become bigger headache.
At same time, police also have to manage balance between public movement and Muharram observances . Roads need to stay open for emergency services, processions need safe passage, and daily commuters also need some clarity… how smoothly this works will depend on people following directions on ground…
