PMC has crossed ₹100 crore mark in property tax collection for ongoing financial year, and collection has now reached ₹102 crore from over 83,000 property owners.
For any city body, this is not small thing ah. Property tax is basically one of those boring civic topics nobody wants to talk about, but same money decides how much municipality can actually spend on roads, cleaning, water, lights and daily services.
PMC officials are saying this happened because of continuous outreach initiatives and online plus offline payment facilities . In simple words, they made payment slightly easier and kept reminding people also .
And now they are trying to push more people to pay early through rebate scheme . Citizens who clear property tax dues on or before July 31, 2026 will get 5% rebate on current tax demand.
Those who pay online will get extra 2% rebate,so total possible concession becomes 7% . Honestly, for property owners paying bigger tax amounts, this discount can matter .
Few things standing out here:
- PMC has collected ₹102 crore from over 83,000 property owners.
- 5% rebate is available for payments made on or before July 31, 2026 .
- Online payments can bring extra 2% rebate, making total concession 7%.
PMC is also distributing property tax bills actively across municipal limits . Employees have been assigned to visit housing societies and residential complexes, which makes sense because many people delay payment simply because bill never reaches properly or they forget.
They are also taking help from housing society office-bearers and residential associations for wider reach . That part is practical only, because society committees usually know who has received bill and who has not.
For convenience, bills can now be accessed through PMC website and Kar Mitra PMC mobile application . Deputy Commissioner Swaroop Kharge has urged residents to use online facilities for smoother payment experience.
But for people who still want physical copy, they can visit municipal headquarters or respective ward offices . So basically PMC is trying both ways, online for convenience and offline for those who are not comfortable with apps.
And at same time, real question is what citizens will expect after paying on time . If collection is crossing ₹100 crore, people will naturally ask whether services on ground will also improve with same speed…
