Not just routine meeting of MLAs and MLCs,proper pressure was visible because several rebel MPs recently moved towards faction led by Eknath Shinde.
Uddhav Thackeray and Aaditya Thackeray were part of discussions, and whole focus seemed clear enough — what next inside Maharashtra politics, how to respond in legislature, and how to show that party is still standing together.
But problem is not small ah . Recent Legislative Council elections have already given Mahayuti alliance strong momentum,so Shiv Sena (UBT) is dealing with outside pressure and inside damage at same time.
Few things standing out clearly here:
- Mahayuti alliance secured 16 out of 17 seats in Legislative Council elections .
- BJP won 11 seats, while Shiv Sena (Shinde) got three seats and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) won two seats.
- Rebel MPs' defection to Eknath Shinde faction has created major headache for Shiv Sena (UBT).
And that Nashik result also says lot . Only seat not taken by Mahayuti candidate was Nashik, where an Independent candidate defeated Shiv Sena nominee . For any party, this kind of loss hurts more because it becomes symbol only.
After meeting, party leaders did photo and video session to show unity . But apparent absence of several MPs made situation look complicated, not fully settled. Public display of unity is one thing, actual internal confidence is another.
Tbh,this is where Shiv Sena (UBT) looks stuck between two battles . One side is Mahayuti alliance getting stronger after 16 out of 17 seats, and other side is Shinde faction pulling away people from inside old structure .
The meeting at Shivalaya may help them plan legislative strategy and keep remaining MLAs and MLCs together for now . But question is whether this is enough when defections are already shaking ground under party.
And Maharashtra politics has become so unpredictable now that one meeting, one photo session, one show of unity may not settle anything . Maybe real test starts after this only…
