So friction between CPI(M) and CPI in Kerala is flaring up again . And this time it's all about Deputy Leader of Opposition position,which sounds small but is clearly big deal for them.
This whole thing is once again showing the strain inside the Left Democratic Front (LDF),especially with Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan's long governance as backdrop . A recent meeting between the state secretaries of both parties ended with no solution,making the situation even worse.
And now,the CPI is even thinking about forming its own separate block inside the Assembly . This is not a small thing ah.
CPI State Secretary Binoy Viswam has made it clear that their party needs this Deputy Leader post . He says it's critical for their political identity inside the alliance. It seems there is a lot of internal pressure on CPI leadership to not back down this time.
But on other side,CPI(M) leaders are saying they are not in position to agree to these demands . So it's a complete stand-off rn.

- With the Assembly session approaching,both sides are under pressure to fix this.
- CPI has even boycotted cabinet meetings in past,showing how serious disagreements can get.
Honestly,this whole situation is being seen through lens of past fights during Vijayan's terms . People remember when CPI ministers boycotted meetings during his first government only to show they were unhappy.
And it’s not just about positions . In recent years,CPI has also opposed big things like the PM-SHRI programme,which led to major policy fights . All these things have just added to growing rift.
It really feels like CPI is trying to assert itself and demand proper recognition within the LDF . They don't want to be seen as just junior partner anymore.
So as things are developing,leaders from both parties have to handle this very carefully . challenge is to find some solution that keeps the Left front together without letting this blow up into a bigger crisis… but who knows what will happen…
