So some big political development happening in Karnataka . Looks like Sonia Gandhi herself made a call to D.K . Shivakumar on June 3,just before he was supposed to become Chief Minister .
And honestly, the advice she gave is probably what everyone was thinking about.
She apparently told him to "take everyone along" . This is a clear message about party unity, which is always big issue in politics ah . She also expressed full confidence in him, saying things like "I have immense confidence that you will lead Karnataka successfully."
This kind of direct call from top leadership is not small thing . It happened just hours before his swearing-in ceremony in Bengaluru,so timing is everything.
And Shivakumar also responded positively . He said,"Sonia Gandhi ji called me this morning and conveyed her greetings. She has reposed confidence in me for a long time. I will strive to carry forward the good work." He knows he needs blessings of senior leaders to run things smoothly .
Before heading to the Lok Bhavan for the ceremony,he also took blessings from his mother,Gowramma . That's a nice personal touch, shows that tradition is still important for him .
Few key things from this whole interaction:
- Sonia Gandhi's main advice was about unity, telling Shivakumar to keep everyone together.
- The call was a major confidence boost for Shivakumar right before taking oath.
- Shivakumar acknowledged the importance of guidance from senior party leaders .
But at same time, there are other things happening . Randeep Singh Surjewala also congratulated former CM Siddaramaiah for getting into Congress Working Committee. It feels like party is trying to balance power and keep all big leaders happy.
This whole "take everyone along" thing is the main point I think . They know there was a lot of competition for CM post,so now focus is on showing a united front to public .
All these calls and blessings are good for headlines, but real work of managing a state and keeping the party together starts now only . It's one thing to get advice, and another thing to actually follow it when pressures are high…
