Just saw this news from Jaisalmer,Rajasthan and it's a pretty big step they've taken . The district administration has completely banned use and possession of Pakistani SIM cards in border areas. And honestly,the reason is very serious.
The order was issued by District Collector Anupama Jorwal under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) , which is basically the new name for the old Section 144 of Criminal Procedure Code .
The main problem is that Pakistani mobile tower signals are strong enough to reach about 3 to 4 kilometers inside our territory . This is not small thing ah. It creates major security risk for everyone,allowing for communication that Indian authorities can't easily track.
And this is where things get really uncomfortable.
Intelligence agencies have been warning about this for long time . People can use these networks for all kinds of illegal communication,spying,and other anti-national activities. And our systems can't even monitor it properly. It's a huge blind spot.
Additional District Magistrate Parsa Ram also said something important . He stated,“We have been releasing this order under relevant section from time to time looking at sensitivity of the situation.” This basically means it's an ongoing threat,not something new only.
Few things standing out clearly in this situation:
- Prohibition on Pakistani SIM cards — aimed at preventing potential espionage activities .
- Legal consequences for violations — individuals may face arrest under security laws .
- Monitoring of communication networks — authorities are closely observing telecom activities in border areas.
But tbh,this isn't first time this kind of restriction is happening in Jaisalmer . It seems to be a pattern whenever things get tense. They are just trying to be proactive to safeguard area .
The administration is making it clear they are committed to security in these border regions . But it makes you think about the constant challenges they must be facing every single day.
Just imagine living in area where even mobile signal from across border is considered a national security threat . Constant vigilance is only way for them… it never really stops.
