This Govandi school case is honestly worrying because it directly touches children and parents, not some small paperwork issue . Mumbai Police have now started legal proceedings against three unauthorised educational institutions, and whole thing raises one uncomfortable question about how such schools keep running despite closure orders .
The three schools named are Mother Mary English School,KGN English Primary School, and Arkam English School . All are linked to various trusts,as per report . And despite education department reportedly issuing closure orders, these institutions allegedly continued operations.
And that is not small thing ah.
According to FIR,the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) identified total 164 unauthorised primary schools for academic year 2025-26 . Closure notices were issued by education department, including to these three schools in Govandi.
Schools were reportedly told to respond within seven days or face further legal action . But if school keeps operating even after this kind of notice, then parents also get stuck in middle . Because for them,it is about child's studies, fees, certificates, and future.
Few things standing out clearly here:
- BMC identified 164 unauthorised primary schools for academic year 2025-26.
- FIRs have been filed against principals and managements .
- Schools were directed to respond within seven days.
And tbh, this is where issue becomes bigger than just three school names . In many areas, parents choose nearby private schools because government options may feel limited or overcrowded. But if those schools are not authorised properly, then entire burden falls on families later.
Legal action by Mumbai Police may push some accountability now,but question is why enforcement usually comes after schools already run for years . If education department had closure orders already, then how were operations still continuing?
At same time, parents will now be watching very closely because sudden closure can disturb students badly . Authorities want rules followed, schools may give their side, and families are left wondering what happens to children already studying there…
