Counting for Jalgaon MLC election started today,June 22 , at 8 AM,and honestly, this one already had that result-almost-decided feeling even before counting properly began .
Polling had taken place on June 18 . District administration said all arrangements were completed at 'Alpabachat Bhavan' inside district collector's office,so process was expected to move fast. And with 616 of 630 eligible voters actually voting, counting was never going to be some long drama .
Because ballot number itself is manageable, officials expected counting to finish likely within two hours . That tells you how tight and controlled this election process is compared to big public elections where suspense goes on whole day.
And main focus here is BJP candidate Nandkishor Mahajan . Reports are already suggesting he may get over 450 votes, which is not small thing ah . BJP headquarters also seems to be getting ready for celebration mood .
Few things standing out clearly in this election:
- BJP candidate Nandkishor Mahajan is expected to secure over 450 votes.
- 616 out of 630 eligible voters participated in polling .
- Counting at 'Alpabachat Bhavan' is expected to conclude likely within two hours.
Minister Raksha Khadse and Guardian Minister Gulabrao Patil were also actively pushing Mahajan's campaign. That part matters because it shows Mahayuti alliance did not look scattered here. At least in this election, they managed to keep support together .
But opposition side looked very different. Contest was officially between Mahayuti alliance and Maha Vikas Aghadi, but reports suggest UBT faction filed nominations mainly to avoid uncontested election. So yes,on paper there was fight, but on ground it felt more like formality only.
And honestly, this is where politics becomes interesting. Sometimes election result is not just about who wins, but by what margin. If Mahajan really crosses 450 votes, that becomes message beyond one seat .
For BJP,this election may show organizational strength in Jalgaon. For opposition,it again brings uncomfortable question of unity, coordination and whether they are able to put up serious contest when numbers are not in their favour.
Now counting is moving ahead, and real suspense is not winner maybe, but final vote figure . Will it be just expected victory or one of those margins that sends political signal across region…
