Just saw some new stats from IRCTC and honestly, the scale of their operations is just mind-boggling now . They are really leaning into this whole digital and AI thing.
They're handling catering across more than 1,400 trains, including big names like Vande Bharat and Rajdhani Express . And number of meals served is just insane, nearly 58 crore in one year.
But the really interesting part is how they're managing quality . Apparently, over 800 of their kitchens are being watched by AI-driven cameras. This is for centralized monitoring to make sure everything is up to standard.
And their online services are getting very popular too . The e-catering is now at more than 425 stations, getting over 1.20 lakh orders daily in fiscal year 2025-26. Even that new e-pantry service they started in March 2025 has seen around 1.23 lakh meal bookings already.
They even supplied 22 lakh meals for Assembly Elections 2026 across 400 special trains . That's some serious logistical power .
And tbh,the ticketing numbers are where it gets really crazy .
About 89% of all reserved tickets were booked through their platforms in 2025-26 . They hit record of 18.40 lakh tickets booked in single day on August 19,2025 . The per-minute booking record was 37,410 tickets on August 16,2025 .
Few things that really stood out to me:
- 58 crore meals served annually across the network
- AI monitoring in over 800 kitchens for real-time quality control
- Highest single-day ticket booking hit 18.40 lakh on their platform
They are also fighting fraud pretty seriously . They have deactivated over 3 crore suspicious user IDs and flagged about 4 lakh suspicious PNRs. That’s not small thing ah.
All this tech and data is impressive on paper, with AI watching kitchens and bots being blocked for tickets . But you have to wonder if it's all making the journey itself feel smoother for the average person traveling…
