Nashik politics got one proper jolt with this result,and honestly,it is not small thing ah . Independent candidate Gokul Gite defeating Shiv Sena's Narendra Darade in Maharashtra Legislative Council elections is not normal routine result .
Gokul Gite won with 357 votes,while Narendra Darade,who was ruling party's official nominee,got only 248 votes . Result came on June 22,2026 and election had taken place on June 18,with total 11 seats contested in Upper House of Maharashtra legislature.
And what makes this more interesting is that Gite was not some smooth,official candidate from big setup . He was initially seen as rebel against BJP,and reports say he had even suspended his campaign at one point. But because deadline for withdrawal had already passed,his name stayed on ballot.
Then whole matter became more heated because his campaign was surrounded by allegations against Darade,including accusations of using inappropriate language towards him . So this was not just vote counting,it already had personal bitterness and political tension mixed inside.
Few things standing out clearly here:
- Gokul Gite secured 357 votes against Narendra Darade's 248 votes.
- Election was held on June 18 for 11 seats in Upper House.
- Counting center saw objections over presence of Kishor Darade .
And tbh,counting day itself sounded quite tense. Gite reportedly objected to presence of Kishor Darade,sitting MLA and brother of Narendra Darade,saying it violated Election Commission rules . When candidates start raising such objections inside counting center,atmosphere automatically becomes charged.
Shiv Sena side also did not take result lightly . MLC Manisha Kayande expressed disbelief and said,“There is a serious doubt about the result as we were assured that our candidate would be supported.” That one line says lot about what party may be feeling internally right now .
But this defeat is bigger than one seat only. Shiv Sena's influence in Nashik already had questions after recent political upheavals,including rebellion of several Lok Sabha members . Now losing to Independent candidate like Gokul Gite will definitely make Mahayuti alliance sit and think hard.
And for Mahayuti,which includes BJP and Shiv Sena,this result can create awkward conversations about loyalty,local support and whether representatives are really following party line or not . On paper alliance may look together,but voting pattern is showing something else…
What happens next in Nashik politics is unclear,but this result has opened one uncomfortable question for ruling side: if official candidate can lose like this,how many more silent cracks are already there inside system…
