Wow,Ahmedabad Crime Branch is really going all out with this illegal immigration issue . They have launched something called 'Operation Delta Hunt' and detained 166 Bangladeshi nationals in one go. That is a huge number.
The main issue here is not just illegal entry, but also fake documents . lot of them have somehow managed to get Indian Aadhaar cards. This is what makes the situation really serious.
Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sharad Singhal himself said this during a press conference . He said,"Quite a few among the 166 had obtained Indian Aadhaar cards illegally. We are investigating through whom these documents were made."
And honestly, this is where things get really uncomfortable. How is it so easy to get an Aadhaar card illegally? That's a big question ah .
But the police are now investigating everything . They want to know how these people entered India, what kind of jobs they were doing, and how they were sending money back home. This whole operation is being monitored by Police Commissioner G.S. Malik, with more than 30 teams involved . Not small thing.
Some key points from this operation:
- Operation Delta Hunt is a big crackdown on illegal immigration in Gujarat.
- This follows last year's operation which resulted in 465 individuals being deported.
- The whole thing was based on intelligence from both human and technical sources.
And get this, some of people caught now had apparently escaped from a similar operation near Chandola Lake last year . Raids were conducted in places like Naroda and Danilimda after police got intel that these people had come back and were living in Ahmedabad again.
So now,the police are focusing on legal action against the networks that create these fraudulent documents . Singhal mentioned it clearly,"Like last year, we believe these individuals will also be deported swiftly after due process."
It feels like this is a recurring problem . They catch some people, deport them, but the bigger network helping them with documents and jobs probably remains active.
And you have to wonder, this is just Ahmedabad . What is situation in other parts of the country? It feels like they've just scratched surface of much bigger problem…
