Just saw this news coming from Delhi and honestly,it's a bit different from usual political stories . Two ministers,Parvesh Verma and Ravinder Indraj Singh, traveling together in one electric bus to an event .
And this happened on June 3 when they were going to inaugurate a new drainage project at Begumpur-Kanjhawala Chowk . reason they gave was to save fuel and cut down their carbon footprint. Small step maybe, but good message ah .
Apparently, this is also in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi 's call for fuel conservation, especially with global oil prices going so high rn .
But main event was about the drainage project, which is a really big issue in Delhi . This specific project is valued at around ₹43 crore . Minister Verma said when they took office, they found many major roads just didn't have proper drainage systems, something that was ignored for years by previous governments.
And tbh, this is where things get interesting. He mentioned a new Drainage Master Plan with a 50-year vision for Delhi. Fifty years is a long time…
Minister Singh also spoke and he criticized the last Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government for not doing anything about this waterlogging problem . He said this new project will help many unauthorized colonies that were recently regularized. He even said there is a whole plan worth ₹56,000 crore to fix entire drainage system of Delhi. That is huge money.
Few key things from this whole thing:
- Ministers used electric bus to send message on eco-friendly governance.
- New ₹43 crore drainage project is starting to tackle Delhi's waterlogging .
- Government has a massive ₹56,000 crore plan to overhaul entire city drainage system.
On the way to site, the ministers also stopped at different places to inspect the situation and talk with officials . This proactive approach is good to see.
This whole focus on sustainability and also trying to fix really old civic problems feels like a new direction . Combining environment responsibility with public welfare .
But these are big promises, especially the ₹56,000 crore plan . Delhi has heard many big plans before. Will this actually solve flooding we see every single year… or is it just good photo op…
