Just read about this terrible fire at Lemon Green Restaurant in Delhi's Malviya Nagar and it's just shocking . 21 people have died,this is not a small number ah .
And now the Delhi Police has started a manhunt for the hotel's owner,Lokesh Bajaj . Police teams are apparently conducting raids across the whole national capital to find him.
The really heartbreaking part is that 17 of the people who died were foreign nationals . They came from countries like Liberia,Nigeria,Mozambique,and Bangladesh. This makes the whole tragedy even bigger and has international implications.
And honestly,this is where things get really uncomfortable.
Police have registered case for culpable homicide and under different sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita . They are also looking into three partners who were involved in running the hotel,who apparently manage several other properties in the city also.
Few things standing out in this whole situation:
- 21 people tragically lost their lives in fire.
- 17 of the victims were foreign nationals,highlighting safety issues for international guests.
- A massive police investigation is ongoing to locate hotel's owner.
The rescue operation reportedly finished around noon on June 3 . In total,47 people were rescued from fire,but 26 of them are still getting medical treatment . Three people got injuries while they were trying to escape the flames themselves.
Even some of first responders from Delhi Police who rushed into the building to help with evacuation are now being treated at AIIMS . These people put their own lives at risk .
Senior officials from Delhi Police and Delhi Fire Services are still on-site rn,trying to manage the situation . But this incident has started much bigger conversation about safety regulations in hotels and restaurants.
You just have to wonder how many other places are operating like this without proper safety measures . It's a critical reminder,but at what cost… 21 lives lost just like that…
