Just saw this news from Delhi and honestly,it's one of those things that feels like both a PR move and genuinely a good idea at same time . PWD Ministers travelling in electric bus for event.
So what happened is on June 3,Delhi's PWD Ministers Parvesh Verma and Ravinder Indraj Singh used electric bus to go for inauguration of a big drainage project . event was at Begumpur-Kanjhawala Chowk.
And their reason was quite simple . Minister Verma said they were inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi 's appeal to save fuel, especially with global oil prices so high rn. He explained it like this: “Instead of using 20–25 vehicles,we opted for a single electric bus, which not only saved fuel but also aimed to mitigate air pollution.”
During this bus journey, they also inspected around 20 different locations, pointing out problems and talking to their teams on spot . This is part of some 'Government on Wheels' initiative they have launched.
But it’s not just about the bus ride ah. The main thing was the project itself .
- Project is a ₹43 crore drainage system for unauthorised colonies that have no proper drainage .
- It's part of a huge 50-year 'Long-term Drainage Master Plan' for whole city .
- Ministers also pointed out failures of previous AAP government in handling this issue.
And of course, politics was also there . Minister Ravinder Indraj Singh directly criticised the old AAP government's negligence. He said that under current BJP leadership,a proper drainage plan worth ₹56,000 crore is now being executed. Big numbers being thrown around .
This whole thing is being presented as a big shift in how Delhi is handling its infrastructure and environment problems . Better drainage is not just about roads,it's also about public health for everyone.
And tbh,it’s massive problem in many parts of Delhi, especially during monsoon. So any step is a good step.
The government says this is all about making sure every citizen gets basic services, even in those colonies that were ignored for long time .
Still, you see something like this and you have to wonder . Is this a real change in how things will be done,or just one good event for the cameras… only time will tell I guess…
