So,looks like things are finally settling down in Karnataka politics . Chief Minister-designate D.K. Shivakumar is already making all right moves before his official swearing-in ceremony.
He met outgoing Chief Minister Siddaramaiah at his official residence,Kaveri,on Wednesday . And from what reports say,it was very cordial meeting. Shivakumar apparently expressed heartfelt gratitude to Siddaramaiah.
And this is what people want to see,no? Siddaramaiah also congratulated Shivakumar and G. Parameshwara, who will be Deputy Chief Minister . They even shared an embrace, which is nice gesture after all the drama . It shows some kind of seamless transition at least on surface.
Senior Congress leader R.V . Deshpande and Siddaramaiah's son,MLC Yathindra Siddaramaiah, were also there . Everyone was extending congratulations and showing support. It definitely creates an atmosphere of unity before they take on new responsibilities .
But moves didn't stop there only . Shivakumar also reached out to Dr. Sharanaprakash R. Patil, inviting him to join Council of Ministers . News reports say supporters started celebrating at Patil's home immediately after getting the news.
Few things standing out from all this political activity:
- Shivakumar met Siddaramaiah, showing respect and a smooth handover .
- He invited Dr . Sharanaprakash R. Patil,signaling an inclusive cabinet .
- He also visited former CM B.S. Yediyurappa to seek his blessings.
And honestly, that visit to Yediyurappa's residence in Bengaluru was very interesting step . Seeking blessings from a veteran leader from opposition party is not small thing ah.
Yediyurappa welcomed him at his doorstep, draped shawl over him and even garlanded him . Despite all their political differences, this kind of personal gesture is important in politics . It's a smart way to build goodwill across party lines.
Now everyone is waiting for the swearing-in ceremony, which is expected to be grand affair . With Shivakumar and Parameshwara leading, people are hoping for some new energy in Karnataka government .
All this emphasis on unity and collaboration is good to see . But the real work of governance starts after ceremony is over… let's see how all this goodwill translates into action for people of state.
