Okay so another political firestorm is here, this time from Bhopal over some very strong comments . BJP MLA Rameshwar Sharma has said something that is sure to create lot of debate.
He basically claimed that rising Muslim population in some areas is creating a climate of tension and fear in society . And honestly, this kind of statement is always going to be controversial ah.
And his solution? He is saying these demographic changes mean India needs Uniform Civil Code (UCC) and stricter population control laws . He even suggested that parents should be encouraged to have maximum of three children only.
But then he said something even more direct . According to reports, his exact words were,"A complete ban should be imposed on those who continue to have excessive numbers of children".
This is not happening in isolation though . It comes just after Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced that his government wants to implement the UCC. He said the practice of having different personal laws for different religions is no longer necessary.
In fact, the MP government has already started process . They are asking for public feedback to create a proper UCC bill for the state .
So few things are clear from this whole situation:
- Sharma is directly linking Muslim population growth to social tension.
- He is strongly pushing for population control and a Uniform Civil Code.
- state government under CM Yadav is already moving forward with its own UCC plans .
And tbh, these are not just political words . They touch very sensitive topics like identity, religion and just basic societal harmony in India .
The Congress party has apparently not responded to what Sharma said yet,so that leaves whole discussion open for more arguments.
This whole debate around UCC and population control is not going to cool down anytime soon . With politicians making such open statements,it makes you wonder what the public reaction is going to be…
