Just read about this horrible fire in Malviya Nagar and honestly,it's just so tragic . A five-storey building with a restaurant,and now at least 21 people are gone .
The fire apparently started on Wednesday morning at the Lemon Green Restaurant . Delhi Fire Services got the call around 8:50 a.m. but when they reached,situation was already very bad.
And this is where it gets really infuriating . According to fire officials like PRO A.K. Malik,the entire building had only one exit . One exit for five-storey building ah. How is that even allowed?
But despite this huge challenge,firefighters managed to rescue 37 people from inside . injured were rushed to nearby hospitals . Max Hospital alone reported 38 admissions,out of which 18 people sadly died . AIIMS also reported that three patients passed away there .
And tbh,the reports about smoke and heat spreading so quickly just make it even more scary to think about what those people went through.
Few key things coming out from this tragedy:
- Building's design was a major issue,it had only one exit which trapped people inside .
- Delhi Police is now investigating to find actual cause of fire.
- Delhi government has ordered inspections of other similar places for safety rules.
Minister Ashish Sood also visited the location to check situation himself . He has directed officials to conduct big inspections of all such buildings that might not be following safety rules.
And this whole incident is again a massive wakeup call about fire safety in our cities . How many buildings are operating without proper licenses or fire safety norms? We see them everywhere only.
The investigation will go on and they'll probably find out who is to blame . But will things actually change on ground level? Or will we just forget about this until another tragedy happens…
