Just read another heartbreaking story coming from Afghanistan, and honestly,it’s one of those things that just makes your stomach turn. A young boy in Ghazni province was severely injured by an unexploded bomb.
This happened on June 3,2026 in Gilan district . The poor kid thought the device was a toy and started playing with it. And just like that, his life is changed forever . It's just so unfair.
And this is not some isolated incident ah. Afghanistan is filled with these dangerous things, left behind from decades of war. provincial police office even reported it,warning everyone to be more aware.
Just one month before, there was another explosion in Parwan province . That time one 20-year-old man died and others were injured. He was apparently trying to open a piece of unexploded ammunition. It shows how dangerous this curiosity can be .
And tbh,the scale of this problem is just huge.
Looking at official reports, few things are very clear:
- High casualty rates from these devices: In past year alone,96 deaths and 328 injuries from mine explosions.
- Rural areas are particularly affected: Provinces like Herat and Kandahar see these incidents most often.
- Public safety campaigns are crucial: Authorities are constantly telling residents to report any suspicious objects immediately.
According to Taliban disaster management authorities, between April 2025 and March 2026,there were 225 reported incidents . That led to 474 casualties. So many of them are children.
In February,a family in Farah province lost two members when a shell exploded inside their own home . Imagine, not even safe in your house .
This whole thing feels like a war that never really ends for the ordinary people living there . The fighting might stop, but these deadly remnants are just sitting there, waiting.
Officials are stressing need for education, especially for kids,to not touch these things . But when your backyard is a minefield, how much can warnings really do… it’s a difficult situation.
