Just saw this news about a drone strike at Kuwait International Airport and tbh,it's really unsettling. A civilian airport getting hit like this is just another level of scary.
The attack happened on June 3,targeting the passenger terminal (T1) directly . Reports say dozens of people were injured and there was significant damage to the building. And the attack is being attributed to Iranian forces.
Kuwait Army immediately responded, with Brigadier General Saud Abdulaziz Al-Otaibi from Ministry of Defence confirming they are monitoring situation and are ready for any further threats . This is not a small thing ah.
And honestly, this is where things get really tense for everyone in the region .
Because of this attack, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) had to suspend all air traffic immediately . DGCA spokesperson Abdullah Al-Rajhi said all flights were diverted to other airports and emergency plan was activated . They have to check everything for safety before things can get back to normal.
Key points from this situation are:
- Dozens of regular people were injured in the drone strike on T1 terminal.
- All air traffic was suspended, with flights being redirected to other airports .
- Kuwait's military is on heightened readiness, prepared for more developments .
But this isn't happening in vacuum . It's all part of the rising tensions in West Asia, especially after those US-Israeli military actions against Iran which killed some key leaders. This feels like Iran's way of hitting back at US and Israeli interests.
People thought things were calming down after that ceasefire on April 8,which came after 40 days of fighting . But then peace talks in Islamabad on April 11 and 12 didn't lead to any real agreement. So that peace was very fragile only .
Now Iran and the US are reportedly exchanging proposals to solve issues, but at same time,an attack like this happens on civilian airport . It just makes you feel like the situation is still so volatile… you never know what could happen next.
