Finally some exciting news for cricket fans in Telangana ah. The first ever TG20 Player Auction is happening on June 7 at Princess Convention Centre in Ramoji Film City . This is going to be big.
And the main attraction is that big Indian cricket names like Mohd Siraj and Tilak Verma are leading the auction pool . With them involved,it automatically gets more attention.
But it's not just about star players . They have over 1,300 registered players from Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) which is a massive number. Franchise owners will have a lot of options to build their teams.
And they are mixing things up too . You have known domestic players like Rohit Rayudu,Rahul Buddhi,CV Milind and Tanmay Agarwal . At same time, there are promising young players from Telangana, even from recent Vinoo Mankad Trophy-winning squad. This is good balance .
And tbh, this is what can make or break a new league, that mix of experience and fresh talent .
Some quick details about the whole setup:
- Eight franchises are participating, including teams like Hyderabad e-Champions and Warangal Warriors.
- Each franchise has budget of ₹60 lakh, which should make bidding quite competitive.
- Fans can watch auction live on JioHotstar,so nobody will miss the action.
The auction itself will have different categories like Icon,A+,A,B,C1,and C2 . Franchises can build squads of up to 20 players . And there's one rule I really like, each team must have minimum of four district cricketers . This ensures local talent gets chance.
V. Agam Rao,who is Chairman of TG20 Governing Council, said something that really stood out . He said, “TG20 is much more than a cricket tournament. It is a platform created to identify, nurture, and showcase Telangana’s cricketing talent on a professional stage.” He is hoping it will become major sporting event for the state.
The league itself will start on June 21 and all matches are at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Uppal . So it's all happening in one place only.
It all sounds great on paper, but will it really give that platform to young aspiring cricketers… or just be another T20 league that comes and goes…
