So some big golf news coming from Morocco rn,the IGPL Bharath Classic is happening and it's attracting all top players from Asian Tour. And it's a huge deal for Indian golfers especially.
You have big names like Gaganjeet Bhullar, who holds record for most titles on Asian Tour, and also Pukhraj Singh Gill, who won the AM Green IGPL Order of Merit 2025 . The prize money is huge,USD 500,000,so this is not small thing ah.
And for Bhullar, this tournament feels very important. He hasn't had an Asian Tour win since November 2023,so he must be very eager to get back in form . He has been doing well on IGPL circuit though, with four wins, latest one was in March in Chandigarh.
Honestly, this is what makes it so exciting to watch. A champion player trying to reclaim his top spot.
But then you have players like Pukhraj Gill who is also very hungry for success . He already made his debut in International Series and he was talking about how IGPL gives players like him a chance to compete at higher levels.
Few things standing out clearly from this event:
- Competitive field of over 40 players from the IGPL Tour .
- Opportunity to earn main Tour cards for International Series.
- Venue is stunning Mazagan Beach & Golf Resort designed by Gary Player.
And that venue itself is a whole other story . Mazagan Beach & Golf Resort is 18-hole course right on Atlantic coast in Morocco. Designed by the legend Gary Player,a nine-time major champion. So you can just imagine the views and also the difficulty .
Of course,it's not just Bhullar and Gill. Many other Indian players are there, like Karandeep Kochhar,Udayan Mane, and even young talents like Kartik Singh who recently finished T-12 in an ADT event . The competition is very tough, with international players like South African Ian Snyman also there.
The pressure is going to be high only . The cut is applied after 36 holes,so only top 65 and ties will get to play final rounds.
It’s always great to see so many Indian players competing on such big international stage . But who will come out on top is anyone's guess… Bhullar's experience or the hunger of younger players…
