Finally some good news for England cricket fans ah . Head coach Charlotte Edwards sounds pretty optimistic about skipper Nat Sciver-Brunt making it for T20 World Cup.
Nat has been out of action for a while now because of calf injury she got back in April while playing for Blaze . She missed the whole ODI and T20I series against New Zealand and also recent T20Is against India.
But now on June 3, 2026,the coach is saying she should be ready for the warm-up games . plan is for her to play as specialist batter against Australia and India on June 8 and 10.
And honestly, this is where things get exciting for the squad.
Edwards even said,“That makes tonight even more exciting, doesn't it,that we've got Nat Sciver-Brunt adding to this lineup.” You can just feel the relief and excitement in that statement. The main tournament starts against Sri Lanka at Edgbaston on June 12,so timing is perfect .
Few things to note here:
- Sciver-Brunt expected to return as specialist batter, making batting lineup stronger.
- England still won T20I series against New Zealand and India without her, showing good depth.
- Warm-up matches are now key for players to fix their spots before World Cup starts.
And tbh,it's not like the team was doing badly without her . They managed to win T20I series against both New Zealand and India which is not small thing. Players really stepped up.
Like Alice Capsey played that amazing knock in the series decider against New Zealand, scoring 82 runs from just 43 balls . So now the competition for batting spots is very high, which is always good for team.
Coach Edwards also talked about this, saying “I'm big believer that your top six should be able to bat anywhere in the order.” This shows she wants flexible players, not just fixed positions .
With Nat coming back, the batting order looks so much stronger on paper . But now coach has a real headache about who to pick and who to drop for that first match...
