So India lost T20I series against England 2-1,but there is one good thing coming out of it ah . Richa Ghosh got the Impact Fielder medal and honestly,it was so well deserved.
Fielding coach Munish Bali was full of praise for her work behind stumps . He said,"Richa Ghosh, three catches, excellent keeping. Very well done and two excellent stops too. Best impact fielder of the series, Richa Ghosh. Well done to you. Congratulations."
And it wasn't just her only . Bali also talked about how entire team showed positive energy and body language on field. Their catching percentage reached 87% which is actually very good.
Basically, they took 13 out of 15 catches successfully . That kind of number is a really promising sign especially with the Women's T20 World Cup coming up .
And tbh, this is what we need. Consistent fielding wins matches.
Few things standing out clearly from this series:
- Richa Ghosh's performance: Three catches and two crucial stops behind stumps.
- Team's fielding stat: An impressive 87% catching rate in the series.
- What's next: Warm-up matches against West Indies and England before World Cup.
Bali also gave shout-out to other players like Shafali Verma and Jemimah Rodrigues for their fielding . He talked about Shafali’s commitment and diving stops, and Jemimah’s amazing throwing ability.
He specifically mentioned how Jemimah managed high-intensity throws without conceding any doubles . That shows her focus and fitness level rn.
As team gears up for their T20 World Cup campaign, the warm-up matches on June 8 and June 10 in Cardiff will be important to watch . Their first big match is against Pakistan on June 14 .
This kind of fielding performance is great for motivation for sure . But will it be enough to handle pressure of a big tournament like World Cup… that's the real test…
