So England has taken the T20I series 2-1 . And honestly, that final match was tough one to watch, felt like we had it and then it just slipped away.
India batted first and put up 180 runs on board which is not bad score at all . Harmanpreet Kaur scored a good 56 runs, and Yastika Bhatia also chipped in with 32 . It looked like a very competitive total.
But real issue was the finish . In the last five overs of their innings,India managed only 48 runs . That's where momentum was lost I think. England's bowlers, like Arundhati Reddy who took 2 wickets for 31 runs, were quite disciplined at the end.
And when England started their chase,it felt like India was on top . They lost both openers inside first three overs only. Chasing 181 seemed like a very big task from there.
Then Alice Capsey and Heather Knight came to the crease . And what a partnership that was . A 137 run stand that completely turned the match on its head. Just took the game away from India completely .
Capsey was just unbelievable, hitting 82 runs off just 43 balls . She reached her fifty in only 26 balls, which shows how much she dominated the bowlers . It was crazy to see.
Few things that really defined this match:
- The 137-run partnership between Capsey and Knight was clear game-changer.
- This was England's highest T20I chase since 2018,a big achievement for them .
- India's struggle to accelerate, scoring only 48 in the last five overs, really cost them .
Even after Capsey was dismissed,Knight stayed calm and saw her team through . She finished with an unbeaten 70 from 42 balls and hit winning four in the penultimate over . Very professional finish .
And tbh, this is kind of result that stings because we were in such a good position early in their innings.
This whole series was just before the Women’s T20 World Cup,which is starting on June 12,2026 . So for England, this is a huge confidence boost . For India,it leaves some big questions about holding nerve in these pressure situations… what needs to change…
