UK politics is looking properly messy right now,with Prime Minister Keir Starmer suddenly facing serious heat after Labour’s significant defeat in Makerfield by-election . And honestly,this does not feel like normal party grumbling anymore.
What makes situation more uncomfortable is Andy Burnham,the former mayor of Greater Manchester,now openly looking like challenger for Labour leadership . Reports are saying he is trying to build one group of nearly 200 MPs who may publicly ask Starmer to resign. That is not small pressure ah .
And Starmer is not sounding ready to quietly walk away either . Speaking to supporters,he said,“It is our last chance to change,” which clearly shows he wants to fight back instead of accepting that rebellion is already growing inside party.
But media pressure is also becoming loud. Daily Mail has reportedly told Starmer to resign within days or face coup,and other outlets are also pushing same mood . When newspapers start putting countdown kind of pressure,it usually means Westminster drama has entered dangerous zone.
