Another huge crackdown happened in Ahmedabad on night of June 3,2026 . Police and Crime Branch teams together detained over 290 people in one single operation.
This whole thing was apparently targeting suspected Bangladeshi infiltrators living illegally in areas like Chandola and Gulabnagar . numbers are quite big ah.
Authorities are saying that out of everyone detained,131 people have already been identified as Bangladeshi nationals . And on top of that,another 160 suspects are still going through interrogation right now .
And this is not some one-off incident . This is part of a much bigger city-wide drive to check ID and residency status of people . If you remember,last year also Gujarat Police and Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation did similar operations.
That time,over 6,500 people were detained across the state,and around 890 of them were from Ahmedabad only . So this has been going on for some time.

Officials are saying the number of detainees might even go up as operation continues . The main focus rn is just on verifying the nationality of every single person they have apprehended .
