After being known for that big Indus Creed stadium rock sound for so many years,he has now stepped into solo space with his debut EP,Human Be,in May 2026 . And it does not sound like he is trying to repeat same old formula only.
This five-track album is said to move away from louder rock setup and go into more stripped-down,introspective zone . That itself is big shift, because when people know you as frontman of Indus Creed, expectations come already loaded.
And tbh, this is where Human Be feels more personal than performative . EP talks about love, empathy and self-discovery,with independent musicians also becoming part of this new sound . It feels like artist trying to sit closer to listener, not shout from stage .
Launch event happened at G5A in Lower Parel, where Benegal showed this new musical direction and also shared personal stories behind songs . In interview with The Free Press Journal,he said,"I think now is the right time for those songs... I needed to have the experiences I did for these songs to take form."
That line says lot ah . Sometimes songs are written much before they are ready to come out. Or maybe person has to become someone else first, before older feelings start making proper sense.
Few things standing out clearly in this EP:
- Human Be is about authenticity, love, empathy and self-discovery.
- Uday Benegal is working with independent musicians who complement his energy and challenge him creatively.
- Indus Creed continues to create music, but Benegal is also carrying lessons from that phase into this solo chapter.
Benegal also says,"The song 'Human Be' is call to return to heart, to our true selves." And honestly,in current time, this kind of message can sound simple, but it is not small thing ah . Everyone is being pushed by outside noise, image, career pressure, public opinion… so returning to true self becomes work in itself .
But what I like here is that he is not acting like Indus Creed chapter is over or irrelevant . He seems to be taking whatever he learnt there and using it in more personal way now. Same musician, but different room, different light .
And maybe that is why Human Be feels less like debut in usual sense and more like someone finally allowing certain songs to breathe . Whether old fans connect with this softer, introspective side or not… that is the interesting part now…
