Just saw some truly terrible news coming from South Delhi's Malviya Nagar on Wednesday morning . A huge fire at Lemon Green Restaurant has apparently killed at least 20 people. Just unbelievable and so tragic .
The fire reportedly engulfed the multi-storied building very fast, leaving dozens of people injured and causing so much damage .
And visuals described are just horrifying ah. Emergency responders arrived to find people actually trying to jump from upper floors just to escape the smoke and fire . I can't even imagine that level of desperation.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta also issued statement about the whole incident . She said Delhi Government is monitoring situation and told all agencies to focus on helping injured people.
Her exact words were,"My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. I pray for speedy recovery of those injured."
But tbh,it's always the same story after such incidents. Condolences and promises . When will we focus on preventing these things from happening in first place?
Rescue operations were huge, with Delhi Fire Services,Delhi Police, and DDMA all coordinating . They deployed 10 fire tenders to control the blaze, and CATS Ambulance Services was also there helping out.
Few key points from the reports so far:
- At least 20 people have tragically died in this fire.
- 37 people were rescued and hospitalized, with some in critical condition .
- Search teams are still inside the building looking for more survivors.
And even though fire is under control now,the whole search operation is still going on . Senior officials are apparently still at the site in Malviya Nagar overseeing everything.
The government has promised all necessary medical help and support will be given to the families . But what support can make up for losing a loved one like this…
Now they are saying investigation into the cause will start once the building is declared safe . And you just know it will be some issue with safety norms or short circuit… always same reasons. Makes you wonder how many other places are just waiting for a disaster to happen .
