Supplying milk from Vijaya Dairy to around 27 lakh students in government schools and Anganwadi centres means whole system has to work properly,not just announcement level.
Proposal came up during high-level review meeting led by Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka at Secretariat on June 20 ,2026 . Main idea is to give better nutrition support to children while also using local dairy network.
But this is where planning becomes real issue . Bhatti reportedly told officials to first get proper assessment of total milk production in state . Because without knowing actual supply,animal count and daily output,this kind of scheme can easily face shortage later.
Officials were directed to do field visits and check actual number of milk-yielding animals and their output . That part matters because paper numbers and ground reality are not always same only .
Few things standing out in this plan:
- Direct payments to farmers are being pushed so dairy farmers get money on time .
- Clear procurement policy is being discussed for transparent pricing and fair compensation .
- Support for local dairy sector is also main focus,especially health and productivity of industry.
And tbh,the farmer payment part is very important here . Many times schemes look good for public,but if farmers keep waiting for pending dues,then whole chain becomes weak . Bhatti also stressed that milk procurement prices should be clear,so confusion does not hit suppliers later.
Government also wants welfare departments to handle payments directly to agencies,so delays can reduce and farming families get better financial stability . If this actually works,it can help both sides children getting milk and farmers getting steady income.
Animal Husbandry Minister Vakiti Srihari and other senior officials were also involved in discussion,which shows government is trying to connect school nutrition with dairy sector support . Not just one department matter,basically .
Still,real test will be daily execution . Around 27 lakh children is huge number,and milk supply needs timing,quality,payments and coordination every single day… so now question is whether ground system can match this promise…
