Manoj Bajpayee is one actor who honestly feels like he has never allowed himself to get too comfortable . From Bhiku Mhatre in Satya (1998) to so many serious,funny and intense roles after that,he has kept changing his image again and again.
And that is not small thing ah,especially in Indian cinema where actors can easily get trapped in one kind of role for years . Manoj Bajpayee has been around for over three decades,and still there is this feeling that he is trying something new instead of just repeating old success .
Now his upcoming film Governor,directed by Chinmay Mandlekar,seems to be another such attempt . This one is apparently going into deeper narratives and serious themes,not just usual entertainment zone .
In recent interview,Manoj Bajpayee spoke about how he prepares for characters and said,"I have always given 200 percent to every role I have done." And tbh,that line sounds exactly like how his performances feel on screen also . There is always some extra weight,some lived-in feeling .
For Governor,he worked closely with Chinmay Mandlekar . Bajpayee had even recommended him for project because of his unique vision and technique,and he seems quite confident that Mandlekar can handle complex subjects,especially ones inspired by real-life events .

But now,through research and script reading,he says he has understood political dynamics much better . That kind of preparation matters because roles based around real events can look very flat if actor does not understand what was happening behind surface .
What I like here is that he still talks about each project like it is chance to grow . After so many years,awards and fan following,he could easily play safe,but he keeps choosing characters that demand effort.
And maybe that is why people still wait for Manoj Bajpayee films with some expectation . Governor may entertain,it may also start discussion around its themes,but what kind of impact it finally leaves… that is something audience will only feel after watching it…
