So New Zealand Cricket just announced their home season, and wow,the India tour is looking absolutely massive this time around . Twelve matches, can you believe it.
This is set to be historic, apparently the largest number of international matches for any single tour in New Zealand's history . We're talking five T20Is,five ODIs,and two Test matches from October 22 to December 1 . That's full-on cricket festival .
And tbh,it's been a while since we saw a proper long tour like this . Team India is playing Test cricket in New Zealand for first time since 2019,and last white-ball series there was back in 2022 . So the excitement is definitely building up .
Apparently this whole thing is also part of centenary celebrations of sporting relations between NZ and India . The New Zealand Government is even supporting it,so it's a big deal for both countries.
Few things to remember for this tour:
- It's a huge 12-match series: 5 T20Is,5 ODIs,and 2 Tests.
- Tour runs from October 22 to December 1 across eight cities .
- This is the first Test series for India in New Zealand since 2019.
The whole thing kicks off in Christchurch with two T20Is on October 22 and October 24 . The ODI series starts November 4 in Auckland . And for Test fans, the first match is at Basin Reserve in Wellington from November 19 .
And it's not just India only . After this tour, the BlackCaps will host Sri Lanka for another full series starting January 16 . And the women's team is also busy, hosting Bangladesh for T20Is and ODIs from December 10.
It's going to be a packed summer of cricket in New Zealand, that's for sure . Fans across the country must be so excited, with matches in Auckland,Hamilton, and Christchurch .
But twelve matches against a team like India is a lot of cricket in short time . Makes you think about the pressure on the players…
