Another sharp exchange has come up between India and Pakistan,and honestly,this one again circles back to same sensitive Kashmir issue . On June 20,2026,Indian government firmly rejected remarks made by Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari regarding Kashmir region.
The response came from Randhir Jaiswal,spokesperson for Ministry of External Affairs . He called Zardari’s comments unwarranted and absurd,and said Pakistan President has no authority to speak on matters that are internal to India .
And India’s message was very direct only.
Jaiswal stated,"India categorically rejects the unwarranted comments made by the President of Pakistan. He has, in any case,no locus standi to comment on matters that are internal to India." That is not soft diplomatic language ah,it is straight rejection .
Few things standing out clearly here:

- Pakistan’s human rights record and treatment of minorities was also strongly criticized .
And tbh,this is where India’s counter becomes more pointed . Jaiswal argued that Pakistan’s own record on human rights weakens its position to lecture India,especially when it comes to treatment of minorities across different faiths.
He also said Zardari’s remarks looked like deliberate political maneuver,guided by Pakistan’s national policies rooted in bigotry and hatred . That line clearly shows India is not treating this as casual comment,but as part of bigger political messaging from Pakistan.
But at same time,this kind of back-and-forth also shows how fragile India-Pakistan diplomacy still is . Kashmir has been long-standing point of contention,and every statement around it quickly becomes bigger than just one speech or one reaction .
For India,this response is also about territorial integrity,sovereignty and rejecting foreign interference in domestic affairs . For Pakistan,it seems like Kashmir continues to be used in political attacks and public messaging.
And honestly,when both sides are already carrying so much history,such remarks never stay as just remarks . They keep adding to tension layer by layer…
