That final T20I loss against England was really tough to watch . We were so close, and then it just slipped away. Harmanpreet Kaur's comments after the match pretty much summed up how every fan was feeling.
Chasing 181 runs,England was in big trouble at 53/3 . At that moment,it really felt like game was in our hands only. But then that partnership between Alice Capsey and Heather Knight completely changed everything.
And honestly, that’s where we lost the match . They just took control and didn't give us another chance.
Harmanpreet said it perfectly in her post-match comments, “I think for us it was only a matter of getting one more wicket.” And that’s the most frustrating part ah,just one more wicket and the result could have been so different.
She also explained it more, saying, “We got three early wickets and were just thinking about one more wicket, but because they both played really well, they took the game away from us” . You have to give credit to them for handling that pressure so well.
But Kaur is still looking at the positives, which is good thing I guess . With the T20 World Cup coming up,team needs to be in right mindset.
Few things are clear from her comments:
- Focus is on positives despite the series loss .
- Team management is almost settled on the playing XI.
- Upcoming practice matches are for finalising combinations .
And it seems there's a lot of competition for spots . She mentioned players like Radha, who did well in WPL,and Bharti Fulmal,a strong middle-order batter. Harmanpreet even said,“We have two very good players who are sitting out,and hopefully we will give them a fair chance in the practice games” . This is good sign for team depth.
One smart move was team India arriving in England early to get used to conditions . Kaur herself said this is already helping, stating,“The idea behind coming here early was to get used to these conditions” . Preparation is key,no doubt .
Still, this loss feels like big missed opportunity . All this preparation is great, but we need to learn how to close out these tight games, especially before a huge tournament like World Cup…
