So the Karnataka political situation is finally getting some clarity . And senior Congress leader G. Parameshwara has now spoken out about his new role as Deputy Chief Minister.
He was speaking to reporters in Bengaluru and he openly admitted what everyone was thinking ah . "It is true that I wanted to become the Chief Minister. However,as disciplined soldiers of the party,we have to abide by the decision of the high command."
And honestly, this is classic party discipline talk . You have to say the right things in public,no?
But he's also trying to frame his new post under D.K. Shivakumar in a positive way . He's saying it's not a demotion or anything. He told them,"I believe this is another opportunity to serve the people . There is no question of considering it a demotion."
So a few points are standing out from what he said:
- He's putting party ideology and the high command's decision first.
- He is directly rejecting claims that certain communities were neglected in leader selection.
- He is making sure to thank the party leadership for their trust.
That point about community neglect is very important in Karnataka politics rn . He made it clear,"There is no question of neglecting any community. Such situation does not arise." This is obviously to keep the party base united and stop any negative stories.
And he thanked everyone,AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge and others, for giving him this responsibility . His exact words were,"I am grateful for the trust and confidence they have placed in me."
It all sounds very professional and gracious on the surface . Everyone is playing their part for team, for now at least .
But you have to wonder if these ambitions really go away,or if they just get put on hold for a while… It's politics after all.
