Wow,what comeback by England women's team in that final T20I against India . Honestly,I was sure India had it in the bag after those early wickets.
And things were looking so good for India at the start . England was struggling badly at 38/3,and it felt like the series was ours for the taking .
But then Alice Capsey and Heather Knight just completely turned match on its head . That 137-run partnership they put together was just brilliant cricket, you have to admit it .
Capsey was absolutely explosive, hitting 82 runs from just 43 balls . And at other end,Heather Knight was so steady,so calm with her 70 not out . They just took the game away completely .
Even the stand-in captain,Charlotte Dean, was saying the team never really panicked . She said,"To be honest,no. The girls took on the powerplay really well, that's what we've asked them to do." That's some serious self-belief ah.
Few things that really defined this game:
- That massive 137-run partnership between Capsey and Knight was whole story.
- England didn't just win match,they clinched the series 2-1 .
- The composure under pressure was something Dean kept praising.
And tbh, that calmness was visible . Dean even said,"There was so much calmness that we didn’t have doubt for a second in that dugout." That kind of confidence spreads through whole team.
Let's not forget India's effort though . Harmanpreet Kaur played a captain's knock with her unbeaten 56 runs . But in end, that total of 180/5 just wasn't enough to defend against that kind of batting assault .
For Charlotte Dean herself, this series seems to have been a huge personal win . She talked about it,saying,"I think I’ve learned a huge deal about myself. Probably a bit of a daunting challenge, but I’ve really enjoyed it actually."
So now England is going into the Women’s T20 World Cup with all this momentum . Makes you wonder what this loss means for the Indian team's mindset right before such a big tournament…
