Apparently this 31-year-old man created over 100 fake social media profiles to target young Muslim men . He used apps like Snapchat,Instagram,and Grindr to pretend to be a friend or romantic interest,and then he would ask for intimate pictures.
And this is where the pure evil starts.
Once he got images,he would threaten to send them to the victim's family and friends if they didn't do what he wanted . For many of these young guys,some as young as 15,the fear of being exposed to their community would have been immense. Not a small thing ah .
But it didn't stop at online threats . Reports say this coercive tactic escalated to him pressuring victims to meet him in person,which then led to sexual assault .
Few things standing out clearly in this case:
- Over 100 fake profiles created — Saeed manipulated social media to lure victims .
- Convicted of 17 offences — Charges include rape,blackmail,and indecent images.
- Potential for more victims — Police are investigating around 100 additional cases .
The lead investigator,Detective Constable Peter Collington,said this is one of the largest sexploitation cases he has ever seen . He made a direct appeal to anyone else who might have been a victim to please come forward .
He said, “What has been done to you is wrong,and we will do everything in our power to support you” . I really hope people who are scared rn hear this message .
