So Asaram is back in hospital in Jodhpur again . Honestly,this whole saga just never seems to end,does it? The man is serving a life sentence for a minor sexual assault case but news about him keeps coming.
He was apparently moved from Central Jail to Arogyam Hospital on Tuesday night . And the police security was very heavy,which you can understand given the entire history of this case.
This all happened after he came to Jodhpur on May 28 . That was right after Rajasthan High Court upheld his life sentence. He first went to his ashram in Pal village,then for medical check-up at AIIMS Jodhpur,and after that he surrendered to jail authorities as per court orders .
And honestly,this hospitalization thing keeps happening again and again. It followed a petition he filed about his health issues .
Few things to remember about this case:
- Rajasthan High Court recently confirmed the lower court's life imprisonment decision.
- Allegations against him go way back to August 2013,involving sexual assault of a minor student.
- Despite everything,he still has a big number of supporters who gathered when he arrived in Jodhpur.
But High Court’s Division Bench,which had Justice Arun Monga and Justice Yogendra Kumar Purohit,said something that really stands out . judges remarked, "The accused's imprisonment is confined within walls,but the mental trauma and lifelong suffering inflicted upon victim know no such boundaries."
And that quote is the real point ah . All focus is on him,his health,his followers… but court reminded everyone about victim's lifelong suffering. That's not small thing.
He was convicted in April 2018 and got life imprisonment . He has tried for bail many times but courts have always said no,pointing to how serious the crime was.
With all these legal challenges and now constant medical issues,the whole thing just keeps dragging on in the news . You have to wonder when this story will ever find a final full stop…
