On June 20,2026,Palla Srinivasa Rao ,the TDP State president and Gajuwaka MLA,stepped in to calm concerns around proposed project.
He basically said worries being spread are misleading narratives, coming from selective commentary and social media campaigns . Main fear being pushed is that Google AI Data Centre will create water shortages and environmental degradation in city.
But Srinivasa Rao's stand is very different . He is presenting this as big digital infrastructure investment which can push Visakhapatnam into stronger position in India's AI-driven economy . And yes, that sounds attractive, but public worry around water is also not small thing ah.
According to him, claims about resource strain are unfounded . He said state government has already started long-term steps to improve urban water infrastructure, keeping future industrial growth and population growth in mind.
- Strategic investment — data centre positions Visakhapatnam for AI leadership
- Water infrastructure improvements — long-term measures in place to ensure supply
- Renewable energy focus — facility designed around sustainable energy sources
One major point he raised was Polavaram project . With ongoing developments related to Polavaram project,he said Visakhapatnam's water supply capacity will increase in big way,and because of that, data centre will not hurt local residents .
And on energy side also,he tried to answer concerns directly . Srinivasa Rao said data centre will run on renewable energy, including solar, wind, and hybrid sources . That is being pitched as way to reduce carbon footprint and match global sustainable development trends.
He also linked project with jobs . As per his view, this can create substantial employment opportunities directly and indirectly, and sectors like logistics, hospitality, and real estate may also benefit from it.
And this is where politics and business messaging clearly meet . Government is showing Andhra Pradesh as investor-friendly place, with major technology firms like Google,TCS,and Cognizant being part of larger growth story.
Still, for local people, question will remain simple only: will promises on water, energy, and environment actually hold when project becomes real on ground…
