After Kota and Bikaner, now Jodhpur has also come into focus, where eight women developed severe complications after cesarean deliveries at District Hospital in Paota on June 20.
These women reportedly faced excessive bleeding and low blood pressure after surgery, which is not small thing ah . Such complications after delivery can turn dangerous very fast,so urgent medical interventions had to be done .
Dr. Kulbir Chopra, the Principal Medical Officer of the hospital, confirmed that two mothers were referred to Mathura Das Hospital . Out of them, one later needed transfer to AIIMS Jodhpur because health condition kept deteriorating .
And this is where hospital also had to act seriously. Operation theater was closed after incident so assessment and investigation could happen properly . committee with doctors and drug inspectors has been formed, and samples from procedures have been collected for analysis .
Few things standing out in this case:
- Eight women developed severe complications after cesarean deliveries at District Hospital in Paota on June 20.
- Drugs used during C-sections have been suspended pending investigation .
- This comes after maternal health complications in Kota and Bikaner, where seven new mothers recently died due to kidney-related complications post-surgery.
Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khinvsar has defended hospital's practices, saying patients involved were already in critical conditions when they were admitted . He also said Jodhpur cases should not be directly compared with Kota and Bikaner because each patient at Paota Hospital had unique and complex medical histories.
But at same time, people will obviously ask questions . When eight women face complications after same kind of procedure in same hospital on same date,it is hard for families to just relax and accept everything as coincidence only.
Dr. Chopra also said hospital usually performs around 40 cesarean deliveries each month, and this is first instance of complications reported in past ten years . That does give some context, but still investigation has to answer what exactly went wrong this time.
Right now,six of eight women are reportedly stable, which is some relief . But after Kota,Bikaner and now Jodhpur, faith in surgical safety protocols is clearly shaken, and many families will be wondering what safeguards are actually working inside these hospitals…
