Around ₹7.50 crore for skilling is not small thing ah,especially when government colleges and polytechnics are directly involved.
And this is not just one workshop or certificate programme type plan. Cyient Foundation has announced investment of approximately ₹7.50 crore to enhance skilling ecosystem in Telangana over three-year period, with focus on innovation, entrepreneurship and employability.
The partnership includes Osmania University,Kakatiya University,Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad (JNTUH),Palamuru University, and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Open University . Along with them,State Commissionerate of Collegiate Education and Commissionerate of Technical Education are also part of this whole push.
But biggest thing is reach. This collaboration is expected to cover 152 government degree colleges and 59 polytechnics, which means students outside usual big private-campus circle may also get some industry exposure and training linked to emerging sectors like Artificial Intelligence and Generative AI .
Few things standing out clearly in this plan:
- Three rural skill development centres will be established in Narayanpet,Mahabubnagar, and Warangal, aiming to train around 600 youth annually.
- Entrepreneurship development programme will target over 4,000 students each year to build entrepreneurial skills .
- Startup incubation support will offer mentorship and resources for 20-25 startups annually .
And tbh, this part feels more useful than just talking about degrees. Because many students already know problem is not lack of education only,it is gap between what they study and what companies actually need .
B.V.R. Mohan Reddy, the founder chairman of Cyient, said,“We must create ecosystems that go beyond education, ones that inspire innovation, nurture entrepreneurship, and build real-world capabilities.” That line sounds big,but if implemented properly,it does touch real issue in colleges right now .
The programmes are also expected to focus on high-demand sectors like healthcare, electronics manufacturing, and digital commerce . That mix makes sense because jobs are changing fast, and students from smaller towns also need same exposure, not just metro students.
And now real question is execution only. ₹7.50 crore,universities,152 government degree colleges,59 polytechnics,600 youth annually, over 4,000 students each year… numbers look strong on paper, but whether average student in Narayanpet,Mahabubnagar or Warangal actually feels difference is what people will watch…
