Whenever police conduct itself comes under question,public trust gets shaken badly.
Now Andhra Pradesh government has formed Special Investigation Team (SIT) to look into case . Orders were issued by Chief Secretary G. Sai Prasad on June 21, 2026,after complaint was lodged by Sai Krishna's mother,G. Vijaya Lakshmi .
And this is where matter becomes more sensitive . Allegations are about illegal detention and alleged custodial torture that led to Sai Krishna's death,so normal inquiry would obviously not satisfy many people .
SIT will be led by Inspector General of Police M. Ravi Prakash . Other members include Adnan Naveen Asmi,the West Godavari District Superintendent of Police; Amit Bardar,the Alluri Sitarama Raju District Superintendent of Police; and L. Sudhakar,the Additional Superintendent of Police for Bapatla District.
Few things standing out clearly in this case:
- SIT formed for impartial investigation and transparency in inquiry process .
- Key members appointed,including experienced police officials to lead investigation.
- Forensic support requisitioned,and SIT can seek technical assistance and forensic help.
And tbh,main question now is whether this team can actually find out what happened without pressure from anywhere . Because when allegation is against police system,investigation has to be seen as fair,not just written as fair on paper.
Inquiry is expected to look into whether there was unlawful detention,what exactly was nature of alleged torture,and whether any evidence tampering happened . These are serious points,and each one can change whole direction of case.
SIT has also been given authority to requisition staff and resources from other government departments . Director General of Police (DGP) has been told to provide necessary logistical support,so team should not be able to say later that resources were problem.
But public will be watching this closely only . In cases like this,people don't just wait for report,they watch every delay,every silence,every small update… because question is not just about one death,it is also about what happens when system investigates itself…
