What a fantastic start to the T20 Mumbai Women’s League . And Sayali Satghare just completely stole show for SOBO Mumbai Falcons in their very first match .
The Falcons managed a solid 16-run win against Thane Sky Risers at Wankhede, which is not a small thing ah. It was their first ever match and they played with so much confidence.
Thane was chasing 174 and for a while,it looked like they had a chance . Opener Mansi Patil scored a really good 46 runs and was keeping the scoreboard ticking even when others were getting out .
But other batters like Mahek Pokar and Saima Thakor couldn't build on their starts . Wicketkeeper Khushi Bhatia tried to pull off a miracle with her 28 runs from 16 balls, which gave some last minute hope.
And honestly, when she got out in that second-last over, that was the game right there .
The real difference maker was Sayali Satghare's bowling for Falcons . She took three wickets and just didn't let Thane's batters settle down at all. A truly match-winning performance .
Few things standing out from this game:
- Sayali Satghare’s three-wicket haul was the absolute turning point.
- Thane’s fielding was a disaster, they dropped nine catches which is just unbelievable at this level.
- This was a historic first win for Falcons, setting a great mood for their season.
But earlier in the day,Thane Sky Risers actually had perfect start . Their captain Saima Thakor made history by taking wicket on very first ball of the tournament only. But after that, their fielding just fell apart completely. Dropping nine catches basically means you are giving away the match.
Falcons' batters took full advantage of this . Hurley Gala with 45 not out,Riya Chaudhari with 43,and Simran Shaikh with 30 made sure to punish those mistakes and post big total of 173.
This new league looks really exciting tbh,the other opening day match between Aakash Tigers and Maratha Royals even went to a Super Over . It seems we are in for a great tournament until final on June 13.
With players like Satghare already shining so brightly on such a big stage, you just have to wonder what other new talent we are going to discover…
