This NEET UG re-examination issue from Ahmedabad has honestly become very uncomfortable now . Exam stress is already too much, and then students getting caught in religious item controversy at entry gate is not small thing ah.
The re-examination was held on June 21, 2026,at R. J. Tibrewal examination centre in Ahmedabad . But before students could even enter, controversy started after they were allegedly asked to remove religious threads and sacred necklaces, known as kanthis .
And parents were clearly upset because they felt this was not just normal security checking . Their point was simple: if religious articles are allowed under rules, then why were some students allegedly stopped like this?
According to eyewitness accounts, students wearing hijabs were allowed entry after security checks, but students wearing religious threads and necklaces were reportedly not given same consideration . And this is where anger outside centre started growing quickly .
Few things standing out in this whole matter:
- Protests sparked by security checks as parents and activists demanded clarification over religious item removal.
- Discriminatory practices alleged over inconsistent application of NTA's guidelines.
- Police intervention became necessary as authorities stepped in to maintain order during escalating tensions .
The National Testing Agency (NTA) had already issued advisory on June 19, 2026,saying candidates would be permitted to wear religious articles of faith, including threads and necklaces,as long as they complied with security protocols . So naturally, people are asking why ground-level handling looked different at this centre.
And tbh, this is where trust problem begins . Rules on paper may sound balanced, but if staff at exam gate apply them unevenly, students and parents will feel targeted only.
As protests increased, police were deployed near examination centre to control situation and avoid disruption to exam process . Reports said few activists were detained, while others were stopped from gathering near venue.
Members of Muslim community also reached spot to express concerns, which shows matter was not limited to one group only . It became bigger question about religious freedom, religious expression and how much flexibility students should get during strict exam security.
The NEET UG re-examination did go ahead under heightened security, with officials again stressing strict entry guidelines and asking candidates to arrive early for checks . But after what happened at R. J. Tibrewal examination centre, one question is still hanging there… if NTA guidelines allow religious articles with screening, who exactly decides what gets respected at gate and what gets removed?
