Just saw this news about International Olympic Committee launching new sports initiative for youth in India, and honestly,it feels like very needed step rn .
The whole thing is called 'You Can Do This! Let’s Move' and it's launching on June 23,2026 . And it's not just IOC,they are working with Abhinav Bindra Foundation and Reliance Foundation . Good to see big names involved.
And their goal is to get more young people into sports . They say previous campaigns already reached over 20 million youths, and now they want to reach another 4 million. That is not small number ah.
But this is where reason for this whole thing becomes very clear . According to World Health Organization,a crazy 74% of children and adolescents in India are not getting enough physical activity. This is actually a very worrying statistic.
So message 'You Can Do This' is meant to be simple,to just encourage kids to start moving and believe in themselves . It’s about building self-belief,resilience,teamwork and all those things.
Few things they are planning for this campaign:
- Engaging 4 million students through different sports activities and digital content.
- Expanding reach to new regions and this time including states like Telangana and Meghalaya .
- Support from Olympic athletes who will share their own personal stories to inspire kids .
And Abhinav Bindra himself said something very important . He's India's first individual Olympic gold medalist in shooting,so people listen. He said,‘The benefits of sport extend beyond physical health; they are essential for personal development.’ And that is 100% true.
Reliance Foundation is also helping with community engagement, trying to spread Olympic values . They are even planning themed runs with community running clubs for Olympic Day celebrations, which sounds like fun way to get everyone involved .
But it’s one thing to launch a campaign and another to make it stick . These initiatives are great for creating buzz, but how do you make physical activity real, daily habit for kids who are now so used to screens…
