Because when 95% of construction is complete, public naturally starts asking simple question — then why is facility still not open?
Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution,Pralhad Joshi ,visited international sports complex in Morarji Nagar, Hubballi,on June 20,2026 ,to assess its progress . He was accompanied by local leaders, including MLA Mahesh Tenginakai and various municipal officials .
During inspection,Joshi sounded satisfied with current status of project . 95% work being done is not small thing ah,but his main point was also clear — remaining work should not drag endlessly now.
He stated,"Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi ,we are closely monitoring projects funded by the Union government, including this sports complex. It is vital that we do not let this facility remain unused for too long."
And tbh, that line about not letting facility remain unused is exactly what many people worry about in government-funded projects . Big buildings get completed, photos happen, inspection happens, but actual public use sometimes gets delayed for no clear reason.
Few things standing out from this visit:
- 22 sports facilities available — complex is designed to host multiple athletic events simultaneously .
- NGOs for maintenance — Minister proposed that non-governmental organizations should manage upkeep of facility.
- Smart City Scheme integration — complex is key component of urban development initiative in Hubballi.
Joshi’s visit is also part of series of reviews meant to ensure timely completion of infrastructure projects . He assured that government would provide all necessary assistance to facilitate operational launch of complex. Local leaders and community stakeholders are expected to play important role in making this actually work after opening .
If this complex starts functioning properly,it can really help sports culture in Hubballi and give space for local and national events . But again, construction being 95% complete and facility actually serving public are two different things only…
