After initial exam got cancelled over paper leak allegations, lakhs of families were already mentally exhausted, and now students across India had to sit again under heavy checking.
On June 21, 2026 ,millions of aspiring medical students went back for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) at over 5,440 exam centers . But this time, atmosphere was completely different. Biometric identification, metal detectors, armed police, paramilitary personnel… everything was brought in to make sure paper stays secure.
National Testing Agency (NTA) clearly did not want repeat of earlier mess . Even Indian Air Force helped in transporting new test papers to different regions, which shows how serious whole thing had become. Exam paper delivery needing Air Force support is not small thing ah.
Few things standing out clearly here:
- Over 1.3 million security cameras were installed in exam rooms, with 51,311 jammers to block mobile signals .
- Around 40-50 security personnel were kept at each exam center .
- Telegram was temporarily blocked to stop possible cheating during exams .
But even after all this, students were not fully relaxed. One participant,Diksha, said,“There is fear because the [exam] paper has leaked once already.” And tbh, that line says everything . Once trust breaks, extra cameras and police can control hall, but fear inside students’ mind does not disappear so easily .
NEET-UG itself is already stressful enough. Exam runs for three hours and 15 minutes, with 180 questions from physics, chemistry, and biology . For students trying to enter medical colleges, this is one of those make-or-break days. So asking them to repeat it after leak allegations is heavy only.
Earlier cancellation had also led to protests, with demands for resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan . He told students to “sit fearlessly, without worry.” But from student side,it is obviously not that simple. They prepared once, wrote once, then had to go through whole pressure again.
Now Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is investigating leak allegations, and this case has again opened old wound around exam safety in India . NEET paper leak is not first such controversy, and people have been asking for serious reforms for long time .
And while security was massive this time, bigger question is still hanging there… how many times should students pay price for system failing them?
